Hystory and designs - Glagolitic Alphabet

Glagolitic is an old Croatian script which in historical sources appears on parchments and stone inscriptions.

Basca Tablet

In the church of St. Lucy, that is the chapel of the Holy Rosary, the Baska Tablet (replica in original size) is displayed, one of the oldest monuments of the Croatian language, written, or rather carved in stone. It was created at the time of national rulers in the second half of the 11th century, written in letters of a transitional type from rounded to square Glagolitic script. The inscription speaks about the donation of an estate to the church of St. Lucy, made by King Zvonimir, as well as about the erection of that church.
